it’s not a pornanet
To all the guys-
When we were first asked to blog about what the internet has done for us I can almost guarentee that the first lightning fast thought that wizzed through your head was porn. No longer did we have to turn to our parents for “the talk.” Oh no, everything we learned about almost every form of sex, where babies came from we learned from the internet.
I will admit that is the first thing I thought of, I mean we have all been there. But I chuckled to myself a little and pushed the thought out of my head. That really has not revolutionalized my life in the slightest bit, it just provided amusement for those 13 year old sleepovers.
What internet has done for me is so much more than that. It has made the 300 miles between me, my friends and my family only an enter key away.
I can’t live without those communication ties that I have back home. I need to stay in contact to everyone that has ever been in my life and the world wide web has given me that gift. I know everything that goes on back home and I feel like I have not entirely left my old life.
My parents worry about me, more so than they sometimes should, but it is comforting to know that the weekly email, text or video chat with a member of my family can quell that worrisome emotion, if only for a little while.
So here is to you internet, for giving me the tools I need keep in touch with everyone I love.
