For ever step forward the GLBTQ community takes, the nation will somehow force us back two steps. The victory in Connecticut for allowing gays and lesbians to get married was a tremendous step forward for the goal of achieving equal rights for the GLBTQ community.
But now, after the American Family Association threatened to boycott McDonalds if they continue supporting the Gay and lesbian Chamber of Commerce, McDonalds will stop supporting the GLBTQ movement beginning in 2009.
How disappointing.
The AFA has the belief that there is a “gay-agenda” moving around America where we want to convert everyone into the world of sin, or something like that. Now they have dragged one of the GLCC’s largest sponsors into their twisted world.
The AFA is playing against what they preach. They want peace yet they segregate a certain group of humans who are different. They promote family values yet frown upon showing compassion for those who have a different lifestyle.
Well lets turn the tables. Boycott McDonalds. Protest if you want. But if you are part of the GLBTQ community or are a supporter, show your support and stick it to McDonalds.
