The ironic side of life

As I was going through the checkout at the Trader Joes in Lincoln Park, the cashier struck up a conversation with me, something I am not unaccustomed to at a Trader Joes. It started out like this.

Cashier: “Are all these for you?”

me: “That they are hun, I just got a shit ton of money”

Cashier: “And how the hell did you get this money in this economy? Drugs?”

Me: “Not drugs..though I am not opposed to it in this economy. I over paid my loans so I got some money from them. it is a way to somewhat beat the system. They now paid me to come to school”

Cashier: “Damn. That rocks.”

Me: “Ya..I first bought my iPhone, then I figured I should get some food..I have my priorities.”

As we continued our conversation, we got on the subject of credit cards and those annoying credit card workers that seem to call at the most inconvenient time. During dinner, during an intimate moment, during your sleep cycle. They will always get you.

She then said something that struck me as ironic. With out our credit card debt, these people would not have jobs at the moment. It is only through us that they have a job trying to get the money we owe them. Twisted cycle yes?

My thought on that is, if we are the ones giving them their jobs..how do they sleep at night knowing that they are putting us through hell and back again?
